What is Asterisk@Home
The Asterisk@Home project enables the home user to quickly set up an Asterisk PBX. A web GUI makes configuration and operation easy. We also provide an xPL (home automation) interface for easy interaction with other devices in the home.

Does anyone have any experience with this? From what I gather, you can connect up your telephone line to it and have a PBX system. You can also use VoIP through it and even control your toaster from work. :P

It uses Red Hat Enterprise Linux as its base.

Is it even worth trying considering the sorry state of our current telephone system?

Thanks

DENG! Its bad enough I have to see ads on the big screen when watching a boring bum movie, but on the internets, say it aint so...

But since its OpenSource and you can control your toaster from work it must be g00d :P

I'm not trying to advertise Asterisk@Home. I am just looking for opinions on it. Like:
  • Will it work on Telkom telephone systems?
  • Will VoIP work?
  • Has anyone tried it?
etc...

Your opinions?

what good is it, controlling your toaster from work?

Do they give you toaster drivers? What if the toast burns before the time?

Does it have a butter interface, as well as a spread interface?

Is it compatible with my (in my dreams  ) LG - Internet - Fridge?
