SSH not working on SuSE 9.3

Post by AlphA »

Hi guys,

Just installed SuSE 9.3 on an IBM server here at work. I know sshd is running (ps -ef | grep -i sshd returns something)...

I can "ssh -l USER_NAME MACHINE_NAME" if I am on the server itself - this further proves to me that sshd is up and running.

Problem is, when I go back to my workstation, I cannot ssh to the server. I am able to ping the server from my workstation without problems.

Does anybody have any idea whats causing this?

Thanks

arrrgh! Never mind !! Ignore the post above....

My problem was that I didn't realise that SuSE 9.3 Pro will enable the firewall by default....unlike SuSE 9 Enterprise which doesn't.

I sorted out the firewall and am able to ssh onto the server...
