Athlon XP 2200+

Post by ZeekY »

I am a bit comfused here.
I they Febuary issue of PC Format there was a supertest on the Athlon XP 2200+. The specs in the mag said the chip has a 0.13u die size, but in the rectron price lists they say the 2200+ is a Palomino. Which is runs on a 0.18u die. Which is it?
Do the 2200+ have Palomino 0.18u cores or do they have 0.13u Thouroghbred cores?

What is the difference between the two cores bsides the die size?

The Thoroughbred runs on a 0.13 nanometer process - and the 2200+ is the first chip that was made, using this process.

The Palomino core is on the 0.18 nanometer process, and the 2100+ and lower were all made on this process.

The differences, other than die size and physical appearances are : more copper interconnects in the T-Bred, lower temperatures in T-bred(because of smaller process)
