Would you pay +-R100 for....?

Post by Off-The-Chart »

This is to all modders and those who want to try modding... Would you pay +-R100 for an hour, maybe two, to use modding tools? Stuff like jigsaws, routers, dremels, drills, tapping sets, maybe a spraypaint hut, testing equipment, measurement tools, you get the point... What you say? To much, how much you willing to pay? To little, how much should be charged? Maybe even buy some stuff like fans or lights...

Something like a fully outfitted workshop where you can go and do your thing for R100 / hour or two sounds like a good idea. Save you on having to buy the stuff yourself. Even better if there is advice and materials available - like perspex etc.
Whether or not there is a big enough following to make it viable, I don't know.

A place exactly like what you mentioned Belix... With all the right tools, well at least most of them at first, and maybe some materials...

Great idea but I don't think the price is right. If you think about it, how many hours does the average modder spend on his rig? I would say at least 15 hours with the tools if not more. So it could easely cost R1500 to use the tools. That's too much for the average joe. Maybe you should rather charge something like R300 per day.

Edit : You can of course charge an hourly rate for the person that only wants to cut a hole or two.

The R100 is to make up for the electricity bill at the end of the month... Is there a way to estimate the price of the electricity for the month before hand?

You have to check how many kW hours you use.
