Games in XP will not work??

yeah thanks, just so u know i will get gigabyte because cheaper than MSI. PS i get a board ddr400 but the ram will be ddr333 to save money cause i buying alot of stuff... PPS, do u know nebody who would by this...

You might wanna consider doing the following:
 Format you pc manually.
 Re-install all programs
 You might want to check your system information as well. You might see if there is any conflict.

Well I have reinstalled every thing (about 10 times). And nothing is working.
 
 i have 2 256MB DDR chips 333MHz to answer your question. I have also tried only one chip at a time. but still same problem...

I don´t know what is wrong!
 We have tried almost every known diagnostic on your PC and still it dos´nt work.
 
 Well I suggest trying a diffrent MOBO.

Have you got the lastest drivers for your motherboard? Had a same kind of problem with a ASUS board. Latest drivers plus BIOS upgrade did the thing!

Have u tried to install another OS. 98/2000 or ME if you have it, and install the latest drivers and see if this solves your problem, if this solves it the you have a crappy copy of XP, that is that I assume you don´t have the original copy of XP.
 
 I´m running blind here so don´t shoot me if you think this is crap.

Try this out, it might do the trick.
 
 Open your win.ini file and check if there is the line DVA=0. If it is there try putting a semicolon in front of it (;DVA=0).
 
 If you have any problems just remove the semicolon and all should be back to the way it was before.

I cant find the line DVA in the win.ini file. what is that ment to do anyway???
 
 Well I´m not going to take it to mount doom just yet,(Although it has crossed my mind) I´ll give it a few more tries.

I guess so! My PC runs faster on windows 2000 but the only thing I did´nt like is the lack of a media player and a picture viewer! It also looks so god dam ugly! But what the hey if you say it worked on the 2000 system load all the sp for it hope for the best!

 Interested as i´ve got an identical problem.
 
 The irony is i just upgraded bits of my pc and now its even worse.
 
 Even microsoft games, which i have found to be very stable on my pc are crashing back to desktop or just rebooting machine.
 
 Like you i´ve got every patch and update installed. All Windows critical updates installed, latest drivers and still the blasted pc reboots or crashes.
 
 I used to have the same prob before i upgraded but not as severe, so i upgraded in the hope of eliminating all my probs (huh fat chance)
 
 My rig now:
 XP1900+
 Gigabyte GA-7VAX-A - latest 4in1 via drivers
 1024 mb of DDR400
 Geforce 3 64DDR- latest nvidia drivers
 Win XP Pro with SP1 ( and all other critical updates)
 SB Live 5.1 latest soundblaster driver
 400w PS
 
 I upgraded from an oldish gigabyte board, the ram to the DDR400 and my PS but to now avail.
 I can´t run any game at all for longer than about 10 min.
 To make matters worse the pc will reboot just while its idling at desktop.
 
 Don´t even know where to start.

Are your mobo´s chipset´s drivers installed?:-?
 Install Directx 9.0a
 
 
 If it still doesnt work, try using somebody else´s video card, install the drivers and see if their video card works.If it does...u know what to do. <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_cry.gif">

as far as i know my chipset drivers are up-to-date.
 my mobo has the Kt400 chipset by Via so i downloaded the latest 4in1 from their site.
 Is there any other driver i need to d/l for my board that i don´t know about ?

Wait a minute, why go back to win2k, no offence because I have it too, but my games run way better on 98, or is that not the main reason (ie is security your reason??)

Have any of you checked the temps on ure rigs.
 Overheating can cause what u have.
 
 Try running the rig open with a huge fan on it , just as a test.

Had the same problem - I flashed my BIOS to the latest version and then everything worked fine ... give it a go (at your own risk of course <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_razz.gif">
