Okie Dokie, So.
Story is. I applied to an I.T college many years ago and completed there courses which involved pretty much the whole the alphabet. A+, N+, .NET, MCSA, MCSE, HDA, etc etc and a bunch others.
After being told they are nationally and internationally accredited qualifications, they shut down never heard of since. So ya, feel like a real chop.
Now, I have been in the industry for about 12 or so years (So got experience) and feel I need to build my portfolio once again. Problem is I would need to pretty much start from A+ again, as my current certificates are worth zip.
From your guys opinion, is it even worth doing A+ and maybe start little higher like Server+. I am keen to go the Cisco certified route and I can't see if there are any prerequisites required.

Re: Getting Certified
There are no prerequisites for CCNA. After your first exam you are CCENT actually.

Re: Getting Certified
These are still recognised internationally.... as being about 5 years out of date!Koko_Lion wrote: MCSA, MCSE
Depending on when you did these you MAY still be able to write upgrade exams to the new qualifications (MCP, MCITP)
Generally with Microsoft certs you can get away with old certs and decent experience

MCSE is coming back BTW...

Re: Getting Certified
Yes, MCITP is now old. I just finished my MCSE 2012 in Windows Server upgrade a month ago, now stands for Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert. The new MCSA is Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate. When I upgraded, my MCITP in Server 2008 automatically changed to MCSA 2008 as well.

Re: Getting Certified
microsoft is pushing really hard for ppl to get the new certs if you want you can go here and get a package voucher which includes second shot for free, it works out to R1956 for the msca and an additional R1304 for the mcse which is a whole lot cheaper than doing it 5xR950= R4750 That it would cost you if you were to pay a place like damelin to just write the exams
