Hi guys.
Does anyone know if it is possible to use an old mac air 2011 ssd drive in a pc. i recently upgraded my drive and the old drive is a 60gig ssd, but it quit fast and would like to use it as a primary drive in my pc.

I'm 99% sure you can since it is a sata drive. All it will take is a reformat.

Make sure to format the Apple standard I.d.10 T sector before you do.

Thanks guys, I know I need to format the drive to a compatible windows format, but how would I actually connect it to the pc, as it doesn't take a standard sata connection, and the only connectors/adapters I have found are for smaller or shorter drives and don't specify if they would work with the mac ssd.

Those of you who have an SSD in your Windows 8 computer: what have you found to be the smallest SSD capacity you can get away with for just the OS and a game or two? 32Gb?

Personally, I've not used smaller than a 128GB. SP, I have a 64GB drive and it's a tight squeeze. I could install either Diablo 3, Star Craft 2 or Battlefield 3 on it, but once the expansion packs arrived I knew it was way too small. I think 128GB would be just right.
That said, I don't know you to be very into multiplayer games and I personally don't mind an extra 15 second load time for single player games. It gives me time to plan my next move, so HDD is fine. Just use your SSD for boot and your other software.

I have an 160gb ssd for my OS drive but all my games are on my 480gb steam ssd and my other 480gb ssd. I would say 120/128gb ssd for a boot drive is safe with all your office and other programs on it. 64gb is a tad on the small side, however with office and windows 7 loaded our work pcs are taking 22gb. Still there are other reasons why larger SSDs are the better options namely the life span of the drive.

Wow...so the Windows operating system is pretty big!
Fortunately I don't have to worry about things such as productivity software, and the only documents I might want to back up are game save files.

I doubt it. They are simply meant to be storage devices. What you put on them is entirely up to you. A 16gb SSD could get a windows OS onto it. But I think you will have issues with temporary space. I've noticed that steam recently asks for double a games space it takes up so I assume its for copying purposes.
