Puppy you are a conundrum. You complain about the graphics in Skyrim - yet you play Minecraft <shakes head>

My daughter is really addicted to this game. Loves it to bits. Still don't get it.

Nope - I tried to build, but no - I found it frustrating. And the graphics - although I am impressed with what people can do - are blocky ;-) Dtrainy (as she calls herself) has made it her passion. She is a Mod on a server and spends her time helping others and building towns.

minecraft was always about creativity, not graphics - (although there are a veritable horde of HD texture packs out there...)

skyrim plays on the ES series successes, but produced a story where i simply couldn't care less about the protagonists set in a world as bland and uninspired as lentil soup... so, sans graphics, the game is nothing other than a loose collection of infuriating UI components and a bogus crafting system... even the guild story arcs rapidly degenerate into WoW-style fetch quests... (the only enjoyable arc being the werewolf/vampire one... because of the trade-off/consequences... )

i can't put my thumb on exactly why it is i didn't enjoy skyrim, but it is clearly something unique because i still dabble in oblivion/morrowind....

tl;dr: they aren't equatable...

Oh puppy - I read every word you write. And yes - the story quests were not as good in Skyrim. Perhaps I am biased as I LOVE dragons. I have found that it still did not detract from my enjoyment. If you stop analysing and comparing - and take it for what it is - it is incredibly enjoyable.

Perhaps I shall try Minecraft again - not that I need another distraction.

WOW! I have a vague knowledge of MC. Question, did he have to create every tree individually, or just clik a button that says: tree here?

NOAA data for heightmaps and biome hints, world painter and a fair bit of time + bucket loads of patience?

i understand concessions were made with respect to height/depth limitations, (eg, everest exceeds the height limitations)...
