Crysis 3

Post by StarBound »

After watching the review for Crysis 3 I had the urge to go out and buy it. The game was on the boring side but it was a well worth purchase to see how good a game can look. Better than Farcry 3? ABSOF***INLUTELY!

The good
The game has you playing as Prophet. As you remember from Crysis 2 he commit suicide and gave the suit to alcatraz who became the new profit. Voice acting is back and it feels good to take part in the chatter.
The visuals got upgraded. As mentioned it looks better than farcry 3 which in itself is almost mind blowing. The game created me with a first level that pulled my rig down to 20fps. Yes, it was that detailed. Luckily the game kept speeding up as the environment got more desolate from the destruction however not less detailed.
The game is the best looking game I have played to date and that makes me wish I had eyefinity and 3-6 screens. 1920x1080 cannot contain the detail of the game. It wants to give you more.
Apart from the stunning visuals the story is more involved this time. The objectives are kinda set piece driven but the games zones fall more towards the open fields Crysis 1 presented rather than the closed alleyways and corridors of Crysis 2.
Did I mention there was a buggy section that felt like Half-life 2 on steroids?

The Bad
The game isn't all sunshine and roses. I got the hunters edition that granted me access to a bow. It was integrated with the story so I can't imagine not having it in the normal version. The other thing is that the bow is so good you will stick to stealth completely and always use that bow. In Crysis 1 you used stealth a lot but once you were spotted it was time to switch to armor and forced to go with the blows. Once an enemy sees a corps in C3 reinforcements crawl out of the woodwork and it starts feeling like just another shooter ...with the no AI turned on.
The game is also rather short clocking in at around 5 hours despite running off and exploring every nook and cranny.

The Awesome
The game has 2 very proper boss fights.

The game is worth a play if u liked Crysis.

They will probably be releasing expansion packs at some point in order to rake in a bit more cash.

so does the 5 hours include the player going around, looking at the nice shiny things, going "oooh, aaahhhh" ?

Nope. The 5 hours is what it takes if you don't try to jump off invisible walled buildings or trying to stalk the stalkers or explore every hole that you see. But it really is a stunning looking game. I will admit I still prefer Crysis 1 in terms of what the game is so if they decided to mod/update Crysis 1 to Crysis 3 visuals I might just never get past the first stage.

Just completed Crysis 3. It was a bit too short (about 6-8 hours). As it progressed the story actually got a bit better. Things get really chaotic at the end and it all feels very......HALO.

Image

Ultimately a fun game, good graphics (not too taxing on the GPU), but too short.

The load on my GTX 670 never went above 75% or so on 1080p with all settings ultra:

Maybe a 7/10 for being too short.
