THQ Bankrupt

Videogame maker THQ Inc said on Wednesday it filed for bankruptcy protection, and entered into an agreement with private investment firm Clearlake Capital Group for a potential sale of its assets, in a bid to tackle its financial troubles.

I will miss Homefront. The game was short... too short but I enjoyed the setting even if people stare at you on the farm while your moving around in day light and do nothing. Not really that many THQ titles that I will be missing even though titan quest and dawn of war comes to mind.

the MP is actually still entertaining... but the SP was more of a training session than a game...

Never played CoH. The 2nd one grabbed me on its trailer though. That cracking ice reminds me of Tiberium Sun.

The fact is that the CEO and executive committee were so focused on trying to hit an unrealistic financial goal that they bet everything on an extremely risky proposition in the uDraw tablet. When they lost, they further displayed their lack of management skills by not having a contingency plan. Three weeks after the game launched, an entire business unit was wiped out when it didn't meet its goal due to relying on that one product to hit an unrealistic target.

Red Faction in my eyes is the ps2 game that you can destroy everything. Games have since simulated it with battlefield 3 coming to mind when destroying just about everything as well. Sadly I never got into it. I avoided console fps titles until pc games started invading consoles and lost themselves.

I have played half an hour of Red Faction: Armageddon so far (all work and no play makes Monty very behind on games.) and i have to say it is in one of my top games - and I generally dislike 3rd person games.

I cant troll someone who doesn't know the difference between first person and third person... they don't have the mental capacity to be insulted or outraged.

But I will say this about Red Faction:

The movie was better than the game... and the movie was a giant steamy turd.

Seriously, FPS is a dead genre. There is a more likely chance of a new Latin word being introduced than there is a unique FPS being released.

The only FPS games I can stomach are the ones that know theirs is a genre devoid of any creativity and thus don't take themselves seriously - the Borderlands franchise is a good example - just gimmicky enough to be enjoyable.

i enjoyed armageddon... the construction mechanic was actually quite fun... they didn't do much with it puzzle-wise, though, which was a little disappointing but the game was still highly enjoyable...

ignore hamin... if it isn't a twilight spin-off it isn't his cup of twinkly tea...

What kind of impact is this going to have on the Warhammer 40,000 franchise? I know Relic was under THQ's auspices. I really love the WH40K universe, and want to see more Dawn of War and Space Marine games.

I believe Sega took CoH franchise and maybe the Space Marine license. I know Metro went to deep silver as did Saints Row. Vigil and Darksiders went no where so it will be bought by the low bidders. Ubisoft got South Park the stick of truth but there is a lawsuit over it atm.
