Re: Wootware must be pulling my leg...
I don't think so. I've seen MSI 7950 for R3500 on rebeltech a few weeks ago and powercolor is the "cheap" brand so I'd say this is on the level. Maybe they trying to flush stock before the next geforce hits.

Who wants to buy me a 7870? I'll give you a cool 1 million internet points in trade. This is a once in a lifetime offer, never before have you ever seen a great deal like this on these sought after points. But wait there's more, take this deal now and I'll throw in a couple of Noddy badges at no extra cost, that's right, no extra cost!

Re: Wootware must be pulling my leg...
As somewhat of an NVIDIA enthusiast even I have to say the 7950 is not a bad card at all.
At that price I'd say go out and get it.

Re: Wootware must be pulling my leg...
I'm not so sure on that one. The benchmarks I looked at pretty much had the 7950 neck in neck with the 580gtx in framerate and then the 660 or 660ti is competing for the same spot at relatively the same price with a lower power consumption.

Re: Wootware must be pulling my leg...
I've seen many benchmarks where a 7950 beats a 680GTX
AMD lets itself down with drivers - the are some games benchmarkers love to use that just run smoother at absolute max settings with NVIDIA drivers.
The 7950 is better than a 660Ti IMO, especially at crazy high res or multi monitor setups
I know and play games with a guy who has a 7950 and a kind of similarly spec'd PC - mine being slightly newer - and I can honestly say his gaming experience is every bit as good with his 7950 as mine is with my 680GTX

Is that before or after the Never Settle drivers came out?StarBound wrote:I'm not so sure on that one. Re: Wootware must be pulling my leg...
Not sure about the NSD but I know there are a few games that AMD just does better than nvidia. To me it is the games I play whose benchmarks I remember like Batman Arkham city, BF3, ect. I believe Dirt 3, shogun total war and metro belongs to AMD.
Also note I never said the card was bard for its price range but rather to consider the alternatives for the price.

I'm not going to white knight for an AMD graphics card, but I will grammar nazi for one...StarBound wrote:I never said the card was bard for its price range but rather to consider the alternatives for the price.
Saying "consider alternatives in the same price range" is >IMPLYING the card is not as good as other cards in it's price range.
Another word for items which are not as good as their competitors is "bad"
I think can make a case that you did in fact say the card was bad, or at least insinuate it.

Yes. Thinly disguised GFX racism.

Re: Wootware must be pulling my leg...
A year ago I saw the 7950 benchmarks and thought the card was awesome being as fast as the gtx580 with 4/5 of the power usage. 2 months later the gtx680 came out being 40% faster than the gtx580 and also 4/5 the power consumption.

Yes, the 680 get higher scores using 3D Mark. But then look at actual frame rates and the difference is negligable.
The cheapest 680on wootwear is R5700. That's almost twice the price for a negligible performance increase.
Bro, admit it, its a good frekin deal.
