Re: The dead walk again as Halloween nears
You guys are such noobs.
1. You will not be able to keep the zombies at a distance for ever, therefore rifles are useless.
2. If you you don't get a perfect headshot, you just wasted a bullet, with a shotgun at least you can slow them down.
3. You all seem to have forgotten to pack ammo.
4. Ditto with armour. Even if the zombies do manage to get within mele range, thay are gonna have a hard time getting to my flesh.

Re: The dead walk again as Halloween nears
I'll assume for a picosecond that you aren't trolling...
1 - If you stay away from large population centers you will never have to keep more than a few at bay.
2 - Slow them down and make so much hoise from the big shottie blasts that you attract hundreds more. A high powered .22 rifle is probably one of the most accurate guns in the world at up to 800 meters, and makes a loud pop. Even with a 50% headshot ratio you'd do okay
3 - I have 3 boxes of .22 ammo and box of 9mm ammo, plus the bullets in the mags
4 - armour slows you down. All the armour n the world wont save you if you cant get away fast enough
Also you look like you have 200kg of gear, the challenge was to design a loadout you could carry.
Okay, now I'm back to assuming you are trolling
1/10 (that one point is for the toilet roll)

Re: The dead walk again as Halloween nears
Primary Weapon: .22 Long Rifle with a Scope and additional silencer
Secondary: Beretta 92A1 with a silencer
Then the basic utilities and a night vision monocle.
Opting for the smaller sized bags and pouches as I'm not a fan of big bags.
I'll carry a fully stocked medical bag (weighs in at around 12kgs), rope, tape and zip ties.
Not too much food and water, looting and hunting will provide that for me.
Total weight will probably be around 30-35kgs, which I know I can carry around for most of the day.
The hardest thing for me to locate would be the Monocle

I tried to keep a good balance of being able to survive out with pretty much no resources.
*EDIT*
Updated the attachments to my weapons.

Monty
Great effort - 8/10
Love the silencers and night vision. Not sure how you would appropriate those in everyday life, but we'll let that slide for you (and Darkstar)
You are a bit light on food and especially water, I guess you will be doing a lot of raids on abandoned shops and houses...
Not sure why you have rope, duct tape and cable-ties - you planning on tying up any female survivors you find?
DarkStar 6/10
Would have given you 8 but you had an electronic device whose use is going to be very limited and a shaving kit.... is personal grooming high on your list of essentials for the zombie apocalypse?
Almost no water - and a fishing tackle box...

Rope, ducttape and cable ties are useful for traps & snares, building shelters and repairing things.hamin_aus wrote:Monty

Re: The dead walk again as Halloween nears
Nope, not trolling. What have we learned from EVERY Zombie movie ever? Answer: the Zombies will eventually come withing mele range. It is unavoidable. Why would I want to shoot a zombie at 800 meters? at that range he doesn't know I exist, and that's fine with me. I do not plan to run. That's what the bouncing bettys and hi-ex grenades are for.hamin_aus wrote:I'll assume for a picosecond that you aren't trolling...

BTW, love that you packed a lighter and no fluid.

Well, I don't love it - I'm just mildly amused by it.

Re: The dead walk again as Halloween nears
Fair call on that.
Playing with the boundaries of the game would be nice tho.
We want a build to maximize your survivability. You have created a last-stand scenario for yourself.
Even Tribble will outlive you... You'll kill more zombies than anyone else, but does that really matter?

What can I say, I always play tank, so my mindset it, get in close and be able to take a pounding (not that kind of pounding).hamin_aus wrote:You have created a last-stand scenario for yourself.
But I do not think the 22 sniper is the best choice. If you going that route, at least use a bow of some sort, you can then retrieve your ammo.

Re: The dead walk again as Halloween nears
Good idea. I'd already considered that, but there are a few issues...
I already know how to shoot and maintain rifles and handguns, but I've never even touched a bow or crossbow - and I don't know anything about how to keep them in a usable condition.

Damn you and your logical argument, I was just thinking that the Rambo bow is perfect, cos its silent when needed, but then you can attach explosives when the brown stuff hits the fan.hamin_aus wrote:Good idea. I'd already considered that, but there are a few issues...

why does everything have to explode with you?

Almost no water - and a fishing tackle box...
Only two things that could be mistaken for it are the fold-up shovel and the gun-cleaning kit.
Electronic device is in fact a GPS. I'd make sure to loot a solar-panel charger so that I can keep it charged. When you're lost in the wilderness, a GPS can really help.
The fishing box is for being able to fish - a man needs to be able to relax while catching food at the same time.
Water - I have a canteen. Water can be taken from a river or dam and purified. Water bottle is just in case.

Re: The dead walk again as Halloween nears
Hey I had fun doing it - no clue at all what I was doing. And once that scope got on I had trouble getting it off. Actually wondered how my eye would reach it but oh well - I would spend most of my time running and hiding anyway lol
Yay I will survive for a day. And Jammy - you can borrow some of my lighter fluid.hamin_aus wrote:

I knew it wasn't the zombies I was afraid of Not to worry - not planning to come anywhere near your continent in a zombie apoc.
