GeForce GT 630 software hiccup?

Post by StarPhoenix »

Hi

With some help from my brother, I bought an MSI GeForce GT 630 from a Canal Walk store during my recent holiday in Cape Town. Upon my return home, I disabled my onboard graphics on my Gigabyte B75 motherboard, and plugged in the card. Windows 8 Preview installs Microsoft's VGA drivers, and nVidia's software asserts that an nVidia GPU was not found.

The fact that the hardware is outputting an image suggests to me that this is a software problem. Have you any idea as to what the solution may be?

Thanks

Make sure you installed the boards drivers. In the BIOS see if you have enabled PCI-E graphics and then try installing nvidias new 310.70 driver.

1. First thing I did after plugging in the card.

2. Will have another look at my Gigabyte B75M's BIOS. The options I saw were were "Auto", "PCI", "PEG" and "IGFX".
I picked "Auto"

3. Did that. It told me that an nVidia GPU was not connected to my display.

I tried again with a fresh install this weekend. Windows device manager reports it as a Code 43 error. Shall see whether Computermania is happy to have me ship it back to them. Fortunately i still have the slip.
