Re: Windows 8 Release
Waiting for my bro to bring me his Win 7 disc with SP1 on. Going back to Win 7. Does anyone have the download link for Windows 7 64-bit Home premium with SP1 and other updates integrated? Because I see a 7.4gb file and windows 8 was just 2gb.

You know the saying it's the small things that makes up life right? Well that is the case here.GreyWolf wrote:More info plox.StarBound wrote:Waiting for my bro to bring me his Win 7 disc with SP1 on. Going back to Win 7.
1 - GFWL does not work. This is a major issue. No more Batman Arkham City or AoE Online. No GFWL games will work.
2 - random window pop ins when using firefox. More specificly the download window keeps popping forward when I am busy typing on some sites.
3 - getting to those manual updates that I do myself takes longer to find now.
It's small things. The slow downs in some games aren't as bothersome. But I am going to head back to familiar grounds.

Re: Windows 8 Release
I've tried the steam forums and such. Some people get it to work. I cannot. So instead of bashing my head I'll just reinstall windows 7. Should take about an hour.

Indeed. Red background then maniacly hit the windows key will cause a ceasure.rustypup wrote:... bouncing in and out of the home screen in a manner likely to cause cold blooded murder...

Actually if it wasn't for these annoyances I would not go back. But I game 70% of the time so it cuts off my gaming, 25% on browsing so I don't need the windows popping over each other.

@starbound what red background? why hit the windows key?
@ rusty, not at all. Only on the tablet display,
What you are saying is very disconcerting, as I too have multiple apps/windows open a lot of the time.

i don't care what happens on tablets primarily because it doesn't affect me... they're unproductive toys*, ("media consumption platforms"), or comically over-sized communication devices... fine for browsing a bit and playing some games - complete pants at everything else..

Re: Windows 8 Release
Downloading SP1 for Windows 7 now then I should be complete with my windows 7 installation. Only took me an hour to get everything back into place this time around. Getting good at this
But ETA for SP1 is 40minutes. So this will be added to my backup folder for future reference.

Re: Windows 8 Release
Here is one glaring oversight from Microsoft that was picked up long before the Release Candidate version and to date they have still not fixed it and that is ... All Metro apps have no idea what to do when they come into contact with a authenticating proxy. MS Store does not work, weather app does not work, People and Skydrive. They all cannot connect to their respective services because when they hit the proxy they fail instead of asking for proxy authentication it just tells you that you dont have a Internet connection. I do realize that for people like rusty this is something that does not belong in the business world but some of them could be a nice addition.

ALT+TAB does work anywhere within Windows 8, I use it when I'm too lazy to reach for the mouse.hamin_aus wrote:If you can get past the fact that alt+tab only works within the desktop and not from anywhere else, not even the start screen (or at least didn't the last time I played with it)
GFWL does work, I have it installed and only had issues during the switch-over a week before the official release because MS was re-starting the service and adding it to more countries around the world. It works without having to download and install the separateXbox Market desktop client (which is the official work-around if you still can't get the service to work for some reason).GreyWolf wrote:So, MS didn't make Win8 compatible with GFWL? Reason #95746 why no business in their right mind would ever use this OS.Anakha56 wrote:Here is one glaring oversight from Microsoft that was picked up long before the Release Candidate version and to date they have still not fixed it and that is ... Re: Windows 8 Release
Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, any GFWL game.
Borderlands 2 with physx enabled any time it starts using it the game slows down tremendously on windows 8.
Far Cry 3 the game just runs noticeably slower.
Non of my GFWL games wanted to work eg batman could not save, Age of Empire Online didn't even want to run.
