Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
I'm guessing yuo are referring to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. What about it?
But there are a range of Nexus devices, the Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, Nexus 7 cellular and soon the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10...

StarBound, I'd get the Nexusw 4 when it is released. As much as I love my One X, the Nexus 4 is beautiful

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
Monty, you have the 7, right?
What's it like? Build quality and so on. I've the screen can be weird on some devices.
You ever wished you waited for the 10"?

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
I love the 7 and am Very happy I got it. It's the perfect size and weight for me.
My main uses are my textbooks and normal books, with a bit of internet browsing and media. I think the 10, whilst pretty, is too big for me.
Build quality is bang on perfect (and I spoiled myself and got a Treegloo case for it as well - which is also very well made.)

Is the nexus from multiple manufacturers just like gfx cards? Which is the prefered Nexus provider then? Google themselves?

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
The Nexus devices all run vanilla android. They're Google's devices
Google contracts certain manufacturers to make a device to their standards
So:
Nexus 7 was made by Asus,
Nexus 10 is going to be Samsung
Nexus 4 is going to be by LG etc

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
I'm a bit worried about the legal aspects of the google play app store. I see emulator software. How legal is that seeing as all the major console providers are reselling those old games?

Considering Google have not been sued yet I wouldnt worry to much. Also if a app is illegal it will get pulled from the store. If you are concerned about the store then rather look at Apple but keep in mind every now & then something slips through their iron fist as well.
I am extremely tempted to sell my S3 and get a 16GB Nexus 4 purely because of the OS updates. Just trying to find A: Someone selling the device & B: A willing buyer for the S3 & her accessories...

Emulator software is legal AFAIK, it's the bios files and the roms that get pirated that aren't.

Word on the street is that the 4 won't be coming to SA.Anakha56 wrote:Considering Google have not been sued yet I wouldnt worry to much. Also if a app is illegal it will get pulled from the store. Or you could do like almost every other person whose shown interest- import it. Apparently it's going for rather cheap overseas.
(I believe Monty also imported his Nexus 7?)
EDIT: Link to see what's up

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
Import then. I have been waiting a long time for a proper high end Nexus phone and now that there is one I want it. I hardly use (in fact I dont think I do) the majority of the Samsung "features" that come with the S3 and knowing Samsung, HTC & LG they wont see a reason to upgrade their current high end sets to the latest JB version instead they will release a new phone. <_< Its time for me to go only Google & Android...SykomantiS wrote: Word on the street is that the 4 won't be coming to SA.

My thoughts exactly, Anakha.
Only thing is, I'm still locked into a contract for another year and a bit. That, and I have absolutely zero issues with or desire to change up from my Galaxy Nexus

I like that nexus 4 but if it not coming to contracts then I can't afford it. I haven't bought a phone cash since my old Motorola v360.
Someone told me that Samsung will be releasing the new S4 in March? Can anyone confirm this?

I took delivery of my very first smartphone recently. I have the same handset as Stig was brandishing at rAge, that is to say, an LG E612 L5

I'm pondering if I shouldn't just get another blackberry and not care for a nexus or iphone. Ofcoarse the reason was to get on a different device.

Well we cant make the decision for you . News on the web is that the newest BB is with major providers in a testing phase no idea about timeline as to when it is released but they were aiming for a 2Q 2013 release...StarBound wrote:I'm pondering if I shouldn't just get another blackberry and not care for a nexus or iphone. Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
I just don't want to buy a blackberry then the BIS dies. The news is that the company that owns them is in a bit of trouble. My curve has served me very well over the past 2 years and still does but I dropped it and now its frame is dented. I did consider the 9300 as a replacement to have 3G.

I seriously doubt BIS will die in the next two years.StarBound wrote:I just don't want to buy a blackberry then the BIS dies. The news is that the company that owns them is in a bit of trouble. Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
So, I just want to know if any of you are using Google Now, and if so, how do you find it?
I've found mine doesn't really work- at least not the way I thought it would. Or something
So, how is it supposed to work?
