And if you decide not to try and cut it you have to fork out for a new sim anyway. It's a lose/lose situation. At least if you cut it and get it right it you don't pay. That's assuming you can cut it any smaller. IIRC, cutting a normal sim to micro sim size didn't leave a whole lot of plastic to play with.DeathStrike wrote:And if you screw it up then you have to pay for a new sim and try again.. No thanks. It's crazy that you can by sim at pick n pay for 99c but the service provider charges up to R200 for sim swop.

Re: iPhone 5 officially announced
My sim card's contact patch is a bit off centre from what it's supposed to be according to the micro sim cutting templates floating on the web. One of the cuts had to go through contacts on one edge. Still works, but cutting it smaller will render it useless.
Not that I'm getting a iFone, micro sim is fine for me.

Ooh. So will Sony sue Apple? Or will Apple sue Sony.

Re: iPhone 5 officially announced
I beg to differ. I believe Apple will sue anyone that gets in there way because they can't bear to loose anything.
Note they lost market share to Samsung and so sued them.

I suspect, however, in terms of patent ownership, that Sony is a slightly larger fish to fry than Samsung.

Re: iPhone 5 officially announced
So atm it seems the iphone 5 is going for R11k at minimum with R14k for the 64gb. A quick amazon search showed $1200 in some cases but the apple store showed $200 for the 16gb. Anyone got an idea what the pricing should be?
Re: iPhone 5 officially announced
+/- 10K sounds about right...the $200 price at the Apple store is like a "down payment" before paying for a monthly contract...I am really interested to see what contract prices are going to be when the iPhone drops here in SA...StarBound wrote:So atm it seems the iphone 5 is going for R11k at minimum with R14k for the 64gb. Re: iPhone 5 officially announced
I would like to know how exactly they are justifying that price. I just dont see what it does that makes it cost that much, and LTE might be fast and all but how well will that work outside the major city's?StarBound wrote:So atm it seems the iphone 5 is going for R11k at minimum with R14k for the 64gb. Re: iPhone 5 officially announced
Stig, it costs about R2000 to manufacture. Price is mainly determined by what people are willing to pay. I think that means you should ask the people who buy!
