Got an annoying issue.
Working along, and suddenly all the programs start shutting down, and then the system reboots. Just the same as if someone pushes the power button. No prompts to save work or anything.
Thought it was just me, but was working with a colleague and next thing, same thing happens to his laptop. Go back to mine and mine has done the same. Both of ours shut down at 1pm. The time and synchronizing of the shutdown makes me think it's some system event.
Both laptops are Lenovo T520 and both use a docking station, if it makes a difference, but was hoping there was a way to check system logs to see what requested the shutdown?

Domain admin messing with you via group policy maybe?
It's possible Windows update was set to run at 1PM in stead of 1AM accidentally and set to automatically reboot if needed.... did Windows say anything about applying settings when it rebooted?
Have you checked task scheduler on your machines?

Yes, something to do with group policy no doubt, but trying to figure out what...
Windows updates says some setting are set by admin, but the available options still say it's set to 3am.
And since it seems to be requested by a program, it's not showing any errors in the system and program logs...

Found something in kaseya. Under patch status there is something labelled reboot action which is set as 'reboot every day at 1:00 pm after install'
Admin is ignoring me so maybe I need to just uninstall Kaseya, although group policy will probably just install it again...

I'm guessing your admin accidentally set it to 1:00 PM instead of 1:00 AM?

Re: System turns itself of
Just like I said he did
Thanks for the heads up, will avoid Kaseya at all costs myself... Tell your IT guys they should have got SCCM instead
Sounds like a typical sysadminBelix wrote:Admin is ignoring me

Sorry, not contributing anything useful, other than changing "of" to "off" in the thread title.
