The Tex Murphy adventure games or "interactive movies" were comprised of Mean Streets, Martian Memorandum, Under a Killing Moon, The Pandora Directive and Overseer.
They were a blend of sci fi, noir and comedy and out of all the adventure games I've played they hold a special place in my heart. Now, there is a kickstarter project for a new Tex Murphy game by the original creators, Chris Jones and Aaron Conners. It may be worth checking out ofyou are fans of the series :

Wow, lots of interest. Anyways, the project has reached its goal which means we should be getting a new Tex Murphy adventure game pretty soon.
