Re: Official Battlefield 3 thread
Normally I would be fine with this but its huge and blocking me from playing my game until it updates something I won't get to use.

yeah that is the big F*** UP that is EA/DICE...
why don't they just release a stand alone patch as well for those that do not plan on getting the new content.

Re: Official Battlefield 3 thread
then you have obviously never played any game on Steam. Every game requires you to update to play Multiplayer.
What I type has nothing to do with the people that employ me.

Re: Official Battlefield 3 thread
Oh I have. 1 such game that got booted from my drive because of it is Dungeon Defenders. Sure it was only a 200mb update ...every 3rd day!
But you know its weird that they are doing a 2GB update for BF3 when I had to manually update Mass Effect 3 to get both of the map packs. So basicly... I dont want a patch bigger than a game if I am never going to use it and why on the other hand must I manually go and update the 100mb map packs for another game? WHY WHY WHY!?
Ok rant over. Think I will buy CS:GO for the $15 tag

Re: Official Battlefield 3 thread
um, isn't Steam reliant on the actual games developers? meaning if they decide a game has to be updated in whichever way they feel like it, then so be it.KillerByte wrote:then you have obviously never played any game on Steam. Every game requires you to update to play Multiplayer.
and yes, I do have Steam games.
what we talking about is not the actual update, but the fact that you have to update your game with a "content update" which you may in the end not even make use of.

Call of Duty has that sort of content update.

Re: Official Battlefield 3 thread
True but they never exceed the limit of "acceptable" which is currently 300mb. That is still large. CoD doesn't update with map packs if you haven't bought them. I think the last update I got for CoD MW3 (yeah I bought it and hate it) was a minor 30mb update.
Getting back to the matter at hand though the update is huge and I am down to a low download speed (100kb or so).

Re: Official Battlefield 3 thread
If they released the updates as a stand alone patch then it would not be so bad. They could sell the expansion on a disk(like they did back in the 1942, Vietnam, 2 days) and have all necessary updates contained there making it accessible to us with slow internet.......
But once you have the updates BF3 is really enjoyable, far better than the "lets do another re-badge" call of duty series.........

I don't see that sort of update coming until late August, as there are expansions coming in September.

Re: Official Battlefield 3 thread
well 1, you will be paying more individually and 2, you will still be downloading all this stuff.
but can understand, if you do not plan on getting a later expansions, going for premium now won't be needed.

Re: Official Battlefield 3 thread
Either way you will have to download the content.
But I am sure the 2gb update contained all the content for CQ, so what's with the 2.8gb one?

Re: Official Battlefield 3 thread
yeah know, many people would have been thinking that.
but if you try join a server with CQ, it tells me it needed to download it.
so either there was some stuff not included, or they are already bringing out new content for next maybe.

it's not a forced update.
it is mainly for the CQ content so only if you have CQ.

It took me a similar amount of time to do just 133mb, man do I wish Telkom would stop giving out bandwidth they don't have and upgrade the exchange
Nice wallpaper btw
