GPU reaching the end of its life
GPU reaching the end of its life
I had my GTS250 512mb since early 2009. For the first year of its life it had a overheating issue I replaced the cooler and it was solved. In January I bought myself a 23inch dell monitor. Last week I bought Dirt Showdown and when I play the game my screen would just switch off. I installed new drivers and the same kept happening, so I tried Shift 2, worked perfectly last year and the same happend. Last night it started happening to MW3. This morning it failed furmark after about 5 minutes, So I guess its time to say goodbye and Invest in a 560 . If you have any ideas on how i might fix this short term I would appreciate it.

Re: GPU reaching the end of its life
replacing it at this point is the better solution. You'll be getting dx11 capability, more gfx memory and a card that can run games better than the 250 did.

Ok thank you, at the moment my budget is not great, I can at best afford a GTX550 or a HD6790

Re: GPU reaching the end of its life
Even so a gtx550 will be better than buying a fan to cool your current card at maybe half the cost and it doesn't guarentee it will live.
