Hi guys,
In December I bought myself a 42" LED full-HD TV, and even though I've been a PC gamer for the last 15 years, there was a time I had a Sega Megadrive that I loved and I've been pondering dipping into the pool of console gaming for some variety.
There are actually some good bundles at the moment (I think), the following are available:
PS3 320Gb + 1 controller + Uncharted 2 + GT5 + Happy Feet Blu Ray @ Pick and Pay = R3499;
PS3 320Gb + 1 controller + UFC2010 + Saints Row II + GT5 @ CNA = R3499;
PS3 320Gb White + 1 controller + any game to the value of R500 @ Incredible Connection = R3299;
PS3 160Gb + 1 controller = R2699 @ Game
Any opinions or advice? Having been out of it for so long my biggest concern is that I will be disappointed with video quality and / or getting use to a controller again and that I'll be left with an expensive, unused cabinet ornament. I don't intend to give up PC gamin (of course, especially with Diablo 3 on the horizon), but thought "why the heck not". There also seems to be an impressive back catalogue of games at reasonable prices.
Haven't even really looked at XBox 360 bundles.
I don't mind 1 controller as I'm not much of a social gamer and don't intend to play online.

Really great games those! Um depends on how old you are though.

Haha, lol, I'm a 28 year old man-child as my wife puts it And that was at CNA so get cash-card points on any purchase there (I suppose I also get smart shopper points at PnP too)Tribble wrote:PS3 320Gb + 1 controller + UFC2010 + Saints Row II + GT5 @ Pick and Pay = R3499;

Re: PS3 Bundle Opinions
I just know my hubby loved those games. Saints Row is really messed up - it looks awesome.
Uncharted is really good too - and plays really well on the PS3. Although I am not sure you get the same graphics as on the PC with all the fab graphics cards out - you won't be sorry with the PS3. You have a decent TV and that makes a huge difference. I would go for it if you are interested. Xbox is also cool but I think you pay even more for games than on PS3.

Thanks Trib - and that's the thing - I find myself drawn to work, email, internet and a gazillion other things when I sit down at the PC. Also have an uber cool surround system so should be pretty neat Think I must just bite the bullet before the kids start entering the scene and gaming time takes a dive!Tribble wrote:I just know my hubby loved those games. Go for it - but kids don't have to stop you from having your fun. (Is there something we need to know here? ) But I agree about the PC thing. Waste hours online before I start gaming. The console - well you hop on and play.
Now go and get it before Jamin rocks up and talks you out of it. He likes doing that lately.

Re: PS3 Bundle Opinions
Depends on which games you like. I have a 320gb but from all those pick n pay option looks the best.
Alternatively if your not going to copy music or movies onto the thing get the 160gb with the extra controller. The get the following games:
Uncharted 3 - best and final of the uncharted series. Apart from good single player has local multiplayer split screen and online multiplayer and online split screen co-op and other modes.
Mortal Kombat - best fighting game on the system (unless you like anime which means you should look at blazblue)
GT5 - Best driving sim on the PS3
Red Dead Redemption - Western version of GTA so to speak. Not a fanbut has a big fan following.
God of War 3
Metal Gear Solid 4 - Less serious version of splinter cell, much more cinematic and at some points down right rediculous. But still good.
If your looking for the not so ordinary games then I suggest Catherine (puzzle game), Journey (from PSN), Super StarDust HD (also from PSN, kinda like astroid).
