Badly programmed games

Post by StarBound »

Yup I have some good memories of games I liked and played over the years. Then you install the game and apart from being old as expected you get that feeling of dread when those old games can't even come on par with games of today.

Unreal 2 is one such game. The game was horrible with load times being excessive and visuals not entirely up to par with expectations.

What makes it worse now is when I load up the game only to find myself stuck with 15 - 20 second load times when it takes games like Deus Ex HR 4 seconds and battlefield 3 10-15 seconds.

So you expected that because your system is now 10x faster than the hardware the game was intended to run that the game would somehow be better :?:

I was shocked that load times were still as bad. That and the game doesn't do 120hz refresh.

Were there 120Hz screens around then? Are you also dismayed to see no 1920x1080 :?:

Load times are a bit of a mystery with games tho. I'm pretty sure in some instances programmers put timers in there on purpose to slow things down
