SSD and NTFS compression

Post by StarBound »

Let's face it. People turned away from drive compression because of how slow it was. But what happens when you have an SSD and a quad core or better cpu...

I have to say I am tempted to try this out. I could save a good deal of space on my drives but they don't show the impact on gaming.

The type of hard drive in your system is largely irrelevant when it comes to file/drive compression - the extra load is placed on the CPU. If your game data is compressed, expect a negative impact; mileage may vary dependent on which CPU you have.
