GTX570. If I got any card right now, that would be it.

Re: which gpu is best???
Maybe we should ask price/budget and manufacturer? And hopefully the system is an i5 or better and not an amd system
Re: which gpu is best???
Yeah, those AMD systems are teh suck.

Re: which gpu is best???
Speaking from experience? I see your sig is boasting one. But have you seen battlefield 3 benchmarks yet? Any duel core is happy to run the game and same with rage. But benchmark from pc showed you can go much further with an intel setup than amd provided you hit that price point.KALSTER wrote:Yeah, those AMD systems are teh suck.
Re: which gpu is best???
When I bought it I was gearing for the i5 750, but budget constraints forced me to go for AMD. It hasn't served me badly, but it is still only as good as the old tech Core 2 range of Intel, with Bulldozer being only slightly better in some benches.StarBound wrote:Speaking from experience? I have had enough of mediocre performance and driver issues. I am flipping to Intel and NVidia for my next rig. You can only support the underdogs up to a point, sadly. Bulldozer is the last straw.
But, having said that, my 2.5 year old 4850 can still play most games at acceptable quality levels, a lot are actually able to go full. It cost me only R1365 back then. That is just amazing value if you ask me. It's just that there have been too many times where my friend has been able to play a game with his inferior 9800GT, while there were some issues with AMD/ATI and I couldn't play the game.

Re: which gpu is best???
Well budget only works until budget matches a price where you go over and buy the superior mainstream. Let's be honest anyone with an i5 is experiencing gaming at its finest reguardless. i7 is simply overkill to anything. While AMD phenom or athlon covers the low end market the i3 comes in at nearly the same price and beats that performance. Not only that but the board you need to use can be used for the more powerful i5 or i7 aswell so that opens up upgrade potential for the first time in years from intel.
Not sure how we got from the 3 gfx cards to this though

Don't trust slim. He's a shady dealer. He's gonna take his 6870 and swop it for your 570 while your not looking

Re: which gpu is best???
GTX580 would be overkill for an i5 rig but that won't stop me recommending it

Re: which gpu is best???
Not really. It will be a while before we see graphics cards that bottle necks on an i5 or i7. My thing is always that people sit with these super high spec systems but forget that their screen only refreshes 60 times a second.

Re: which gpu is best???
Very true Starbound its not something many people realise. GTX580 isn't overkill but its way out of his budget.
