ATI 6790

Post by Smurf6 »

Hi all I need some help, I currently have a XFX ATI 5770 gfx card very nice though, but with all the new games coming out (BF3 etc) im doubting my card will be able to run the games everything on high at 1920x 1080, currently im running at 1360x 768 so the games are still fine but in the future when i want to upgrade to a larger screen i think it will stuggle to play at that res :( of full hd , is there anyone that can suggest a budget card for R1400 region? looked at nvidia and ati but ati seems to fit the budget nicely :P i have a i5 750 so will this card cause a bottlneck?

KInds regards

Your best bet will be to try and find a 460gtx 1gb version. The 6790 isn't much faster than the 5770. And unless you have R2000 to spend on a 6870 its not worth it.

Unfortunately 1400 doesn't get you much but as starboiund said a gtx460 will do nicely, it'll play most games with maxed out graphics but not all. And your cpu won't be bottlenecked by the new gpu:)

Or maybe even a vanilla GTX560.

Vanilla GTX560 goes for R2k+. Haven't seen it anywhere near R1400 mark. Infact I think the GTX560 replaced the TI directly at R2500.

Rebeltech has a vanilla GTX560 for R1700.

yoh :O ill give my girlfriend for a gtx 570.... any takers :P lol thanx guys
its just with BF3 coming out and we all seen the game trailers and all, but im sure my little 5770 will maybe still cope with it at 1360 x 760 :D I know flocking out alot of school fees for a nice gfx card will do wonders but being a student money is tight :(

The big bucks comes after university or if you become a high ranking employee (or employer in my case). The problem then is finding time to enjoy those modern marvels.

I'm sure BF3 can be scaled down to a suitable detail with that card. But you wont be getting the full monty.
