Stuart wrote:Okay, so here's how it works in my home. My wife watches a lot of things that she doesn't particularly enjoy. (Superhero movies, for example; it may have been a mistake for me to make her first superhero movie on the big screen The Rise of the Silver Surfer.) So things are balanced out by her having a selection of movie every now and again. (Read that as: "The Rat watches a lot of chick flicks.")

So last night was Chick Flick Tuesday. Now I've grown accustomed to these films, and so I watch them without complaint. (I have managed to draw the line at sparkly vampires, thankfully.) I try to look for some redeeming feature in each of them, and normally I spot something--however minuscule.

But last night's choice was The Last Song with Miley Cyrus. What an absolutely messed up movie! I had no idea what the hell was going on. I don't think I've ever watched a chick flick in which the story was impossible to follow . . . until last night. It kinda came together at the end and made some rudimentary sense, but for the most part it was like watching an extended cologne advert.
Take it like a mouse.

Just Watched, The Reef. Not a bad lil Australian Shark horror. It does take some time to get going, so don't expect to see some fin right off the bat(or I should say boat), cause it ain't gonna happen. Once it does finally kick in, I quite enjoyed it. Freaked me out enough and I cried out like a little girl once (Damn shark and it's huge mouth!) The shark attacks and cinematography are done rather well and looks bloody real. Being put in that situation must be quite daunting, and it comes through quite nicely onscreen with lots of fear and tension to be had. Worth the watch if you are in the mood for something different or are afraid of sharks and want to be scared.

omg...you just gave me such a fright...good grief...

I haven't seen that, but I don't want too as I have read enough reviews to know that is a load of rubbish...lol
However I am quite confident in saying that The Reef is much better...

I am sure that is a safe assumption. :)

The first bunch of reviews for Captain America are in and it looks like it's not to bad...better than Thor, but its no Dark Knight, reviewers are saying. They go on to say that he feels like a hero you can care about, but the lead isn't the greatest choice. Oh well, guess you can't have everything, but I am rather keen to go watch this...

I just think it's silly when they cast an actor they've already used for a different superhero for a new one.

I agree, they need a good star to act as the lead, an example is Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man.

I don't think Chris Evans is a bad choice, but seeing as he already played The Human Torch, I wouldn't have cast him as Captain America.

I don't think he is that strong as a lead...and he wouldn't have been my first choice as Captain America...but we shall see how portrays the character...I agree with your point too...

Cellular was ok(I don't think I liked how the film wrapped up towards the end)...I prefered Phone booth...same script writer for both films...

Haven't seen Phone Booth, but might still watch it. Not a Colin Farrell fan though.

Phone Booth was meh. I watched it because it was recommended on some review site for those who enjoyed The Negotiator, which I really enjoyed. But I was disappointed with Phone Booth.

X-Men 1st class: Better than any of the previous movies in the franchise, including Wolverine.

I enjoyed it not only for the film itself but for the production value too, as it cost 10mil to make, made 90mil in profit and only took 10days to film...

I also enjoyed Phone Booth. Cellular was ok, but not a fan of Chris Evans.

Anyone watched Season of the Witch? What a load of waffle. Nick Cage at his best (at being crap).

While it's not the greatest, I still thought it was ok. It goes along at a nice clip and doesn't drag...I also enjoyed how it ended...
