Help me choose a tower case

Post by capanno »

Hi guys

Im looking for a new case. My mini ATX isn't cutting the mustard anymore. Ive got harddrives lying all over the place with cables going into an open side panel.

Now, if there's 1 thing computer cases have failed miserably at, its aesthetics. They are hideous. Especially gamer cases. It seems like you can't be a gamer and, for instance, like something that doesn't make you want to vomit every time you look at it. Like this:

I'm looking for something plain, and since I don't have the time to BUILD myself a case, maybe like this.

But, it must have lots of space. Ive got 4 harddrives and more will be added soon. Ive seen that modern graphics cards block out some 3.5" bays, which is stupid. I need them all. Can someone recommend something specific? I don't have time to browse page after page of online catalogs, so any help will be appreciated!

I have a CM690II Plus and I love it. You can turn off the blue light if you think it's too bling. It has space for 6 HDDs.

if you want lots of space then id suggest a full tower which is gigantic! Lian Li is perfect for you but the price is the downfall. and as departed said the Coolermaster cm690ll range might appeal to you. its toolless and you can have no side window if you want and theres space for lots of fans if you find the hard drives generating too much heat. and its a mid tower case so it wont look like a bar fridge.

CM590?

Cheap, Full Mid Tower and plenty of fan space.
Looks reasonable...

Would also recommend the CM 690ii. They have decent space, good build quality and look very sleek/elegant (lack of better words), but they are not the extreme designs you get in the HAF & Antec Lanboy cases.

I am getting a sub R500 [or thereabouts] case form the machine I am putting together later this year and am considering either this case from Antec or the Z7 from Zalman or Coolermaster's Elite 370

CM690 looks like what you want, though I can recommend a HAF922.
Intel i-7 950 (4Ghz with HT on) / 3 X 2Gb Kingston Hyper-X (1600MHz) / MSI X58A-GD / 2 x EVGA Nvidia 1Gb 460GTX SuperClocked External Exhaust / 320gb Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid HDD + 2 x Seagate 1TB SATA 6Gb/s/ Corsair H70 Hydro Water Cooling / Corsair TX 850W PSU / CoolerMaster HAF-922 / 2 x 22" Fujitsu LCD Wide
