A few months back I bought a Nvidia GTS450 as a replacement for my truly ghastly 9500GT(I think the GT suffix was a bit sarcastic ).
So I am currently looking at a new aftermarket cooler as I would like to do some OC'ing. There are hundreds to choose form so all I want to know is which is the best value for money cooler for this card?
Good cooler for the GTS 450
Re: Good cooler for the GTS 450
What brand is your card, meaning Gigabyte, Asus, etc? What clocks are you running at currently and what are your temps like?
Have a look at the link below. It would seem that the GTS450 uses the same mounting hole layout as earlier Nvidia cards. Might be of help for you to locate an aftermarket cooler.

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/ha ... iew-5.htmlPopping off the heatsink on this card is actually quite easy since it doesn’t have a full-length backplate and is just held in position by a quartet of small screws. Here is something you should know as well; NVIDIA has retained the same heatsink hole mounting offset as on G92-based cards. This means any aftermarket heatsink that was compatible with the 8800 GT, 9800 GT, 8800 GTS, 9800 GTX, 9800 GTX+ and GTS 250 will be compatible with this card. Full coverage water blocks will not be compatible due to a different VRM and memory layout

Re: Good cooler for the GTS 450
it is a Forsa, yes I know but it based completely on the nvidia reference design so forsa have not ruined it as they usually do. So the board and heatsink look identical to the one in that link except the PCB is blue. And it is still running at stock clocks:
Core: 783
Shaders: 1566
Memory: 1804
I think that this looks like it will do the job

Here is a link to the product website, they list a whole lot of compatable cards towards the bottom of the page.

My personal choice would be this:
http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/vga/2 ... o-pro.html
Here are a few more choices:

http://www.takealot.com/electronics/dee ... er,9650917
http://www.takealot.com/electronics/dee ... er,9650916
It would seem there are quite a few options to choose from, suppose it will come down to personal choice and your budget. Once you've decided be sure to post some pics.
Ps: Happy birthday!!

Re: Good cooler for the GTS 450
Thanks dude. I Have narrowed it down to either the Zalman or that Arctic accelero.
I will be sure to post pics, but I am still deciding on whether to get a CPU or GPU cooler.
