External folders turned to shotcuts

Post by Antilucio »

Hi i was wondering if anyone else had this problem and found a solution.

I recently inserted my friends usb stick in my pc and it had shotcut to its folders within, when i went to my external hard drive it had somehow had the exact same problem, all my folders had been turned into shortcuts.
I updated my antivirus to the latest but that didn't fix my external. I've tried moving the data to new folders within the external but that to became shorcuts.

I was hoping if someone actually had a good solution to this problem cause i'm at my wits end trying to solve it. Google no help with solutions either.

Thank you in advance if you are able to help.

You won't fix it with an AntiVirus... You need to delete all the shortcuts and a suspicious folder...

Then you need to use command prompt and run a command to change folder attributes...

I have a link someplace...

H:\>attrib -H -S \*.* /S /D

Obviously, you need to set it to the drive and folder you want to work on.
