Re: AMD vs. Intel
Yeah, they do, but when I get a new PC, I like to use as few brands as possible. EG - Asus for board, GPU, Corsair for RAM, PSU, SSD, CPU cooling, etc... I'm just weird that way.

Re: AMD vs. Intel
I'm wondering if the socket 2011 will be well worth the money over a 1156 i7. I'm not talking from the ground up. I'm talking about a step up which atm seems like a waste since the current i7s can handle everything well.

Re: AMD vs. Intel
Well, the 2011 is a direct replacement for the 1366. FYI.
But upgrading from the 1156 to the 2011... I think there will be substantial gains, but probably not enough to warrant the cost involved. I'm looking forward to the quad-channel RAM though.

Re: AMD vs. Intel
But 2011 wont be featuring quad channel ram yet will it? It will still be tripple channel or will they make it quad channel and use all 4 slots?

i think it will be quad channel

Re: AMD vs. Intel
its also said to offer Pci-e 3.0.... but i wonder what sort of a preformance leap that will offer.... i m pretty sure our current gpu's arent even making use of the current bandwidth we have now on pci-e 2.0 and now 3.0 is said to offer double the bandwidth... The heat generated by our gpu's are the pci-e bottlenecks at the moment in my eyes... Card manufacturers will have to find a way to improve operating tempretures and tolerances, to increase the amount of raw power the card can deliver(a die shrink?)... maybe a gtx590 in sli makes use of alot of bandwidth, but unless u gona be running tri, or quad gpu's u never gona fully utilize all that bandwdth surely? i just hope that its not just some sort of marketing gimmick and it really offers some sort of innovation...

Re: AMD vs. Intel
Yes and it will also be 4x the price of the current technology. I just don't see why you would need so much bandwidth and power, the only place where that will be necessary is in the server environment.

Re: AMD vs. Intel
I'm very curious to see what LGA 2011 is going to perform like, although it will most probably be on the pricey side.
Re: AMD vs. Intel
I was impressed with sanybridges pricing structure so who knows? Maybe intel might impress again? And if not then keen to see how many ppl go AMD

Playing with the Asus Sabertooth P67. The Sabertooth sub-brand is strongly becoming my favourite. I just love stability in a system.

Not sure how I feel about the whole "thermal armour" look.
Re: AMD vs. Intel
As well... i think asus failed a bit with this mobo... reason y i say this is cause if u look towards the top of the board, it looks as tho ur about to start a round of battleshipsMystical_Titan wrote:Not sure how I feel about the whole "thermal armour" look.

Re: AMD vs. Intel
I wonder why it took them so long to cover up the boards.

Re: AMD vs. Intel
Apparently it doesn't really make a difference to temps.
Re: AMD vs. Intel
It would make for a sleaker cleaner finish but they would have to work on adding a bit more character and design elemets to the board... But there is something about all those capacitors and oddly shapped heatsyncs that just looks the part...

Re: AMD vs. Intel
it looks kinda kewl - but once you've built a system into it, its gonna look kinda bland - especially if most of your parts are black in the first place.performance wise whats it like? is it in the same catagory as the rog line?

Re: AMD vs. Intel
Sauce: http://www.thinq.co.uk/2011/5/31/amd-hi ... z1O6jxQfHfAn AMD board partner has revealed that the company will be reneging on its plans to launch the next-generation Bulldozer chips at Computex, aiming for an August release instead.
Speaking to thinq_, the board partner explained that AMD's original plan - as all evidence suggested - was the use its scheduled press event on Wednesday to launch its next-generation Bulldozer processor architecture.
Everything seems to be in place - including AM3+ motherboards, required for official Bulldozer support, which have appeared both on stands at Computex and in the retail channel within the last twenty-four hours.
Sadly, a last-minute hiccough has left AMD with a dilemma: it can go ahead with a paper launch tomorrow, or it can cancel the whole shebang and show off something else in its place.
The hiccough, we have been told, stems from performance issues with the first-generation hardware - and with AMD positioning the Bulldozer range to take Intel's Sandy Bridge head-on in the performance market, that's a major issue.
While we're assured that the problem will be resolved in revision B2 of AMD's Bulldozer platform, but that will delay the launch until early August, we're told.
AMD's press event is still due to go ahead tomorrow - and we'll let you know what the company decides to do with it.
