HDMI cable vs DVI

Post by Sojourn »

If I connect my Samsung 2494hs monitor up to my pc (ATI 5800) with the HD cable the display is grainy/flakey - it looks totally crapp.
With the DVI cable it is 100%.

What gives? Am I doing something wrong ?

Where'd you get the HDMI cable from? Any chance of getting another one or testing yours on another monitor?

I have an issue with hdmi not scaling properly from a pc. I need to scale down from full hd yet the other resolutions just works correctly like 720p.

PCF had a nice little article about this last month. DVI was hardly a contender towards HDMI. However if it looks bad then don't use it.

On your monitor go into the on screen display, go to the setup & reset option, then pc/av mode then make sure your monitor is set to pc mode and not av mode. Your monitor might be a lil different but it should have a pc or av mode somewhere in the monitors menu.

Only option I have is to to enable or disable AV mode - and it is disabled by default.
