I have two computers connected to the ethernet sockets.
I am continuously having to reset this router and reset my
telkom user name and password.
Different LEDs light up at different times giving me no internet connectivity.
Sometimes all four internet leds are on at one time.
Sometimes the DSL and internet LEDs are on, sometimes off, and sometimes flashing.
Sometimes only the power LED and one ethernet LED is on.
Sometimes the power LED burns red, but usually green.
Sometimes wireless LED is on. (I have no wireless connection)
Previously, "PC has lost lease to IP address" regularly occurred.
My son then changed some settings and this probem appears to have
been resolved, except now the above problems are interfering with
my internet connection.
Please can someone help???????

Hmmm... I'm having the same problems with internet connectivity, though I haven't noticed any funky activity on the leds, just the line dropping.
I'm guessing it's telkom. What area are you in?

That's your line, not the router.
If you are on a 4mb line, ask them to lower it to the next lower decrement.
Stable line > Fast line.

Everyone else > Telkom
I no longer think of myself as Atheist however I reject religion as a concept where you must do x because someone says so. May contain nuts.

Try call 0800 375 375 and have them test the line. If they say it's ok, get a reference number but don't request a technician yet if they ask (Expensive if not Telkom related).
Make sure you get a decent dial tone from the jack the router goes into, just plug in any phone. Try a different ADSL filter also. Make sure the settings are all correct on the router (PPPoE, LLC-Based, VPI, VCI and of course username and password etc etc) and that you SAVE the settings and restart the router.
If still no joy, try substitute the router and if the substitute router works, then send the faulty one to telkom for swopping (If under contract and insurance is still valid of course). Otherwise purchase a new one.
Last resort, call telkom (0800 375 375) and request a techie using the reference number from earlier. Probably a line fault nearby.
Its late and I am very tired so sorry if I missed something.

Re: Telkom or Mega 100WR router problems???
I took router and power supply to Telkom.
Without checking they said they could smell that the power supply was fried.
(I could smell nothing) They blamed power surge even though the PS had built in
surge and lightning protection.
I asked if I could buy another PS but was told the router was too old, five years
and I should buy a new one which I did, a Netgear router.
I have just completed the installation and setup. Originally it could not detect network adaptor,
but eventually did. Holding thumbs that all problems are now over.

Re: Telkom or Mega 100WR router problems???
I've had a few clients with these routers... and none have been a pleasant experience. Whether or not the PS was actually faulty will never be known, but I’m pretty sure the netgear will work just fineBarrymore wrote:Mega 100WR router

Re: Telkom or Mega 100WR router problems???
Thanks for the imput.
After "successfully" setting up this new router, I was on the internet
for about 15 minutes when I lost the connection. My son helped by
setting up an IP address after the usual message "PC lost lease to IP address"
Internet now working again - I just cannot fathom why the internet LED is sometimes
on green, sometimes flashing, and sometimes shining on red.
