Laptop speakers usually do an atrocious job of reproducing sounds correctly, mostly because they lack the range required to provide any level of fidelity (the ability for a speaker to accurately reproduce sounds). The problem is that notebook manufacturers try to cram as much as possible into a unit; this includes speakers which actually prefer a bit of excursion room
