What are your favourite apps that you think are absolutely essential on a general system that can perform basic multimedia,encoding,virtualization etc.
The apps that are first to get installed on your system

1. I (and quite a few people) have ditched Acrobat Reader for Foxit Reader.Tabbed PDF viewing, free version has limited editing (underline, highlight, etc) and it does not bug me to update. It opens quickly.

2. CCleaner (no service, never broke any pc I've used it on in years. Just run and select what clean-up you want done)

3. SpeedFan to monitor temps. On Windows servers\pc's you can set it to send emails for various warnings. Can check and diagnose your drives (SMART)

4. TrueCrypt free file encryption. Install/standalone functionality. Never had one problem in years. May options.

5. OpenVPN GUI for easy VPN connection

6. Ubit Office 2003 menu (added as a ribbon) for Office 2007 - free

  2. NOD32
  3. Google Chrome
  4. Google Talk
  5. Traktor
  6. World of Warcraft :P
  7. Steam
  8. Visual Studio 2010
Everything else gets installed as I need to use it.
