Restore/d virus

Post by KatrynKat »

does anyone know of a virus called "restore/d"?

we can't seem to get rid of it, the whole department has it. Linux picks it up and we can delete it, but the normal windows virus checkers don't pick it up. we have deleted it how many times from everyone's computers and memory sticks but it still seems to hang around.

any help will be appreciated.

It's security 101. If you don't know it it must be a virus. If your computer does something odd, it must be a virus. If your phone drops a call you have a virus. If your nasal mucous is green rather than clear, you have a virus.

Et cetera

That is exactly what I was thinking. If a tech doesn't know why - then it is a virus

I assume you have already contacted the UFS Computer Services office for assistance or to report the 'virus'? (Which is the appropriate response since they distribute the image to all campus PCs)

I don't know which version of the image you have at the agriculture dept, but I can say the latest Win7 image seems virus free.
