Geforce 3 Ti 200 Worth the overclocking effort?

Post by Mothman »

I've got a Geforce 3 Ti 200 128mb and I’m thinking of over clocking it a bit.
Is it worth the effort and which would be the best way of over clocking it. I know its a old card but just maybe I can get something better out of it.

I'm not really up to date with over clocking so anything will help.

Best option would be to download a prgram clled Powerstrip from the net, and use that to tweak the memory and core clocks... Increase the memory/clocks say 5%, and then bench (look for artifacts), and observe the *hopefully* higher score....

Or you could also use Rivatuner, use the same method as ASSASSIN mentioned. Incremental overclocking then test. If the card takes too much strain, lower clocks again. You can get both powerstrip and rivatuner from www.guru3d.com

All the newer games are about features and raw power, not speed (although it does help). So an OC of that card will result in very small increase in framerate

I actually got a program that enabled this function. I was able to push the memory from 400MHz to 502MHz and the core from 175MHz to 260MHz.

It raised my Aquamark3 score by 3000. I was wondering if their is any other ways of over clocking.

Raw power, what do you mean? Raw power is speed...

Number of pixel shaders, vertex shaders, pipelines. Although i guess this could be classified under features :?

Raw power does not always equals speed, look at AMD

EDIT: In other words, how much it can do per clock cycle
