If u can't spend more than 2500 then the 5830 would be your best bet cause it will handle 1920x1080 better than the 5770 because of the 256bit bus... And at 2400 its only 300 bucks more than the 5770 so its a no brainer....

Or you can Crossfire two of these for R3000 and get 5870 performance.... just an option...

If it does then you get 20-80% faster games. If it doesnt your stuck with the a single card speed.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/164?vs=180 this is the 5850 vs 460gtx

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/171?vs=180 this is the 5830 vs 460gtx

So now you atleast know how a R3500 (5850) card and R3100 (5830) card stacks up to a R2700 (460gtx) card. Based on this and that xfire/sli doesnt work in all games it is my recomendation that the 460gtx is indeed the best card you will get for your budget. It's the closest to your R2500 for graphics anyway unless R2500 is indeed the max money avalible. But there is the benchmak site details anyway so play around with it and see what you like. Also try tomshardware.com and see their gpu charts.

get a gtx460.... ati's HD5000 range is really good, but price / performance on the 460 is amazing..got 2 in my system & they perform close to a behemoth HD5970 & costs and costs R2000 less.

the 1GB is worth the extra cash but if you strapped go for the 768MB & remember, ur cpu is gonna choke it a little depending on the res.
