How to disconnect a hidden mapped drive?

Post by Anakha56 »

Morning All,

I have been struggling with this problem the majority of the morning, we use a login script to map our department drives and shared drives as well as the users personal drive on the server. This works for everyone else but one person and the event log shows this error:

Code: Select all

The user 'H:' preference item in the 'Windows 7 Implementation {C48F7CB7-4C3F-4F6C-BBEB-FDBA045129B4}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070055 The local device name is already in use.' This error was suppressed.
Now if I run net use (both normal and in admin mode) it shows the other 2 drives but not the personal space drive. If I run the net use command manually to assign the drive and space I get the error

Code: Select all

System error 85 has occurred.

The local device name is already in use.
So the question is how the frig do I remove a drive which cannot be seen? :(

Does this person have a memory stick plugged in or something?

Seen that sometimes memory sticks "steals" the drive letter from mapped drives.

Found the problem...

It is a silly me should have checked the back of the PC problem. It was a memory stick of sorts, one of those that you need to have plugged in in order to run a program. Took it out, mapped the drive, put the stick back in and launched the program and all is fine.

*sigh* Shows me not to rush around...
