Activision confident that IW will ‘rise from the ashes’

Post by Drakonis »

Bit late maybe?
Or at least that’s the story according to Dave Stohl, who is Activision’s head of Worldwide Studios and a former Neversoft developer. It appears that Activision will be leaving Infinity Ward alone to do its own thing for the most part if Stohl is to be believed. Some commentary on the beleaguered studio in recent months has hinted or said outright that this should have been Activision’s policy form the start

It depends...

Will IW still keep the useless IW.net for gaming? Will they still rip off the PC market with advanced features such as graphic customization? Will they still rip off the PC market by saying the game is not a clone of the XBOX version and leave all the XBOX stuff in game to prove otherwise? Sorry I refuse to purchase any more IW games because of how they treated the PC community...

Exactly why did IW fall?

I also thought that IW fell because it pissed off a good few million of its pc gamers. But looking at the one pcfs piracy figures I see no way how a loss of 1 million self inflicted sales can bring a company down when it knocked the 20million sales a few weeks ago.

Will IW rise from the ashes? Well console gamers never complained or did they? From a pc stand point it was unacceptable in the highest degree. And I know a few pc gamers will never look at an IW game or any of its new found companies games.

Basically, top IW management was dismissed by Activision, and said top IW management claimed that it was done unfairly. This was followed by a mass exodus of virtually their entire senior staff...

All fine and well ...maybe. But the problem remained that MW2 was never fixed.

Activision:"Good news pc gamers. We fired the guys at IW"
Gamers:"Cool. So when will MW2 be fixed?"
Activision:"...DLC packs now only $15 each!"

First step to fixing something is to cut out the cancer. The next part would be to patch up the wound, not pour salt on it.

I thought Activision were the bad guys here, firing IW because they wanted to fix MW2

The truth will never be known. /hail to the freedom fighters known as AIW.net. Mmm think that maybe ex-IW had a hand in bringing the dedicated server crack to pc gamers?
