Watercooling & gtx 470

Post by GhoulRot »

Hi All

Just stumbled across this watercooled gtx 470: http://www.evga.com/products/moreinfo.a ... P3-1479-AR.

I was wondering if it would be feasible/possible to connect this upto something like a Corsair H50 instead of a traditional watercooling setup?

Has anyome tried/heard of this being done before with previous generation cards and did it work out? Any ideas or thoughs would be appreciated.

Thank you

It would probably be possible with some modding yes, but what kind of performance you'd get, hmmm I dunno...

Generally not a great idea. The H50 is design for the CPU alone. That system was never meant to be cooling a whole machine, so I would advise against it :)

Oh damn, did you mean connect the H50 to the CPU as well as the 470? In that case definitely no, it will most likely cook one of your chips. The radiator isn't sufficient and it won't provide nearly enough flow... The H50 is a good solution compared to high end air coolers, but if you compare it to a proper WC loop it's gonna fall short. It's designed to cool one block, so I'd leave it at that.

Oh, wait a second, I think you may have read right, Ryan, and I may have misunderstood. You understood that he wanted to run ONLY his GPU on that system, and I read that he wanted both :P

Either way, we answered whichever question he asked :P
