TDDS Downloader (Rootkit)

Post by lukevdvza »

Hey guys just thought I would give people a warning in case they come across these symptoms. A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine used a flash drive in my pc.
Nothing was picked up with AVG or MBAM when scanned. Then a month later (today) I wondered why I hadn't seen any windows updates being installed (Windows 7).

Went to manually check for updates, always returned an error. Long story short, scanned with AVG and MBAM, both couldn't pick anything up. So I downloaded the Kapersky virus removal tool, it could find TDDS Downloader, but couldn't remove it! So I Googled and found this: http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/so ... =208280684
It's called "TDDS Killer" and it removed it in a couple of seconds, windows update works perfectly now!

Just thought I would post in case anyone searches for "TDDS" or something on the forum. :)

That is why you should get a anal retentive program that ask for any changes to be made to confirm first...and not allow any tom Dcik or harry's flash drive on your computer unless you are sure he has proper antivirus as well as up to date def....period.
