Repairing corrupted JPEGS

So here's the tail - my boss goes to Italy. Takes over 200 photos a day. Transfers photos to laptop at the end of each day. Drops laptop on day 5 and corrupts hard-drive. Comes back home, sends for data recovery, get a cd back with, ahem, "recovered files". All his images are there, but some are garbled mixtures of other photos, some have grey bars through them etc. When you view thumbnails in explorer, however, they look perfect. So, here's the question - does anybody know of a piece of software that can repair the corrupted images?
