"Uncapped" Offerings Feedback
Re: "Uncapped" Offerings Feedback
Well iBurst has made their service slightly better as well. Until the end of June all accounts are uncapped from 12am to 8am every day of the week. So I scheduled all my downloads and updates for after 12... It's running as a 3 month trial to test network stability before they implement it as a permanent offering.

Yeah I'm really hitting Steam at the moment, because that's my main problem with it, never enough cap...

Anyone else having problem with downloads? Plain old regular downloads. I can't seem to download stuff. Everything does a few megs and then says it's complete. I tried to download a few podcasts today and they all failed at about the 5MB mark. I tried this with Chrome, FF, and IE
That guy that used to mod cases. Now I take photos. True story.

I had to help a buddy out with some updates for his Rappelz game, was crawling for about 3 hours.. then all of a sudden was sorted - upon investigation I found a outage report on the site..DAE_JA_VOO wrote:Anyone else having problem with downloads? Still considering which deal to go for, seeing as 'uncapped' has been redefined according to these greedy sob isp's
Going to go for Axxess Lite (10Gigs Unshaped, R190) for now

This offer to me is a steamy pile of rat manure.....and not worth the 400mb I got. Will test the connection again after seven and later tonight.
But steer clear if you don't have a proper connection or signal.....

Seacom maintenance was supposed to be delayed for a couple of weeks.

Can any of you see anything regarding throttling in here. I can't see them putting anything extra on the unshaped service except for the normal legal blabber.

Re: "Uncapped" Offerings Feedback
I checked nothing that I could see.Well the 24 hour "uncapped" is completely useless after the 150mb fair usage from after 7pm I could only get another 200mb till 7am.What is worse is you are suppose to be throttled to 128KBytes according to the lady from the MTN menu clearly stating 128 KBYTES. I was however given lower network priority which meant the non stable connection speeds ranging from 5.33 to 13.9kb and it was not a constant rate the average speed was 7.45kb according to bandwidth manager.KALSTER wrote:Haven't they been working on the Seacom cable today?Well I just figured out MTN just screwed me have moved 400mb only in 7 hours the throttling has gone to shyte I used to have a stable connection at this time of day now it is jumpy as hell....besides that I had to reset the connection at least 6 times....
Since my connection is GPRS and connect at a far lower speed that the 128kbytes my average speed is around 200- 240 Kilobits (20-24kbytes) I was screwed completely as my connection is far below their limit.
Further more a few mins after the service expired I used my normal cap to check speeds and was right back to the normal speeds. As a note even before I reached the 150mb limit (around 90mb)I was already throttled.....

Re: "Uncapped" Offerings Feedback
Either I am missing something or there is something wrong with Axxess DSl's bandwidth usage monitor:
It tells me that my usage so far this month has been a little over 170mb.
/Corrected error

I think he is informing us that he might be bashing it with a hammer
Going to go for Axxess Lite (10Gigs Unshaped, R190), for now as there are WAY too many complaints about this bogus uncapped.
I wonder if the internet dictionary defines uncapped as 'throttled and shaped internet bandwidth limited by your internet service providers infrastructure and interface load'

I know I have said this before but I am very happy with MWEB. I have done nearly 50gigs this month and the service has been fine.

Re: "Uncapped" Offerings Feedback
Well I am on a 4MB line and paying R250/month for a 10GB cap is more than acceptable for me. Especially considering that it is Unshaped. Even bumping it up to 20GB would be sufficient to me as I don't sit and download bundles of stuff. I browse... Check mail.... and play WoW. Neither one of which is very CAP heavy. Playing WoW however does require a decorum of stability and decent latency however which is why I opt for the unshaped options. I would love to get back to my 200ms latency I used to have in WoW.
