The Official Borderlands Thread

Post by Jonboy »

Can't believe there's no official thread for this game ...

Anyways, for all of you that have played it, I just bought it yesterday and wanted to know what the most enjoyable character is to play through the game with? I've read Tank is the easiest and Roland (Soldier) is most well-rounded, any opinions?

Then I see the DLC is coming out in April, anybody getting this?

You're a few months late to the party :P

My main character was the soldier, and he was AWESOME. I used that character to finish the game. I also had a level +- 30 Hunter, which was kind of boring tbh.

Playing a siren with a friend. Like they say, you MUST play online with a friend. But I am having lag issues online. Missing dead aim shots because of lag is becoming an adsl givin that I didnt have back in the isdn days.

4 player co op is fantastic fun! Especially if you have 4 different characters to compliment each other.

LOL, i know and I think it's because this game suspiciously crept under the radar,no official thread here, not much hype surrounding it, then started investigating when I saw it on sale at Inc. C and turns out to be one of the best of last year.

I enjoyed playing Diablo 2 with a paladdin, so methinks the soldier is the most similar, balanced class, not so sure about Brick / Tank!

Borderlands was overshadowed by the worst fps of last year and possibly all time. No matter how many times it happens we fall for the hype and get a game that cant compare to its prequels. PSN is a bit small in SA so I dont get around to playing games online and with our adsl the problem is only amplified as you get shaped into a pile of $***. I would really love to see how UK live handles xbox games. Like I said when I had one all those years back I was surprised at how well games handled.

I have this problem with games. In border lands I am a level 27 Soldier, but for some reason I just lost interest. I think it's a disease. I just can't seem to maintain interest in games

borderlands is good fun, single or multi... until that sodding armory DLC... that was just nasty...

Well I got stuck in when I had a chance this weekend and I totally agree, it's so much better than other similar games like Hellgate London. The only gripe I've got (and maybe this is due to my own stupidity), but is there a hotkey for med-pacs? It's very frustrating getting an a**-whooping and then having to tab into your inventory to find a med-pac.

I'm in Skag Gully at the moment, defeated Nine Toes and now getting back TKs leg (done) and looking for the second data recorder and collecting some plant for TK - almost got the last plant I need when I encountered BadA** Skag and his cronies who overpowered me, now back at the Nu U station and have to re-kill all those skags as I work my way back, kinda painful!

I finally decided to play as a soldier and I do like the turret, however, I'm yet to find a decent combat rifle of the machine gun vain. I have this terrible scattergun, but the shotgun doesn't reload fast enough to kill a bunch of Skags and the repeater isn't powerful enough! Where are the Skags weak points (for critical hits), their faces?

The other mission which is buggy is the first U-ride (or whatever it's called) - there's a notice on the board in Fyrestone to give it a try, but when I hit use at the station, it just brings up the mission screen - confused!

I'll probably buy the DLC pack, R180 for the Zombie Island etc is pretty cool.

there are 3 DLC's if not mistaken?

I agree that Borderlands was, at 1st, awesome to play. maybe it is cause the pc I played it on was situated in the office which meant I didn't have the comfort of my own room/bed/desk at hand that made me lose interest. I have yet to finish and I am only on lvl 20 something.

maybe now that I have my own pc I will be giving it a go from the start again.

I chose Roland and if you are planning on doing some gaming with friends, he would be best option for team based defense/offenses.

There are 3 DLC's the Zombie Island and Mad Maxi whatever are the two being released on disc and the latest is the armory one.

Agree about Roland, even single player he's pretty handy, upgraded bullet damage across all gun types, faster shield regeneration rates and health regen in the vicinity of the turret are awesome.

Killed some BadAs* Skags last night, am at the last mission of the Arid Badlands, some Bonehead mission to do with the transport module - level 10 and loving it! The main reason I want the DLC is to up the level cap.

I've got to level 17 (Roland / Soldier), still in the Arid Badlands and have just got the mine gate key, now doing some side missions to up my level a bit before attempting to take out sledge. Very cool game, really enjoying it.

New DLC is announced for borderlands. Claptraps robot revolution.

Along with the new dlc a patch will be released to rebalance the game and increase level cap to 69. The best news is a Borderlands game of the year edition is being released that will include ALL dlc released including some extras.
