Apple Tablet
Apple Tablet
Well it's Tablet day, so thought I'd start the thread in the meantime.
The Apple event starts at around 8pm SA time. Most likely announcements will be iPhone OS version 4.0 which will probably be renamed to iOS as it will be running on the iPhone as well as the Tablet. The Tablet, of course. And iLife '10.
Mr. Jobs also has a "'one more thing" surprise most of the time, so there may be something extra.
Bring it on Steve, w00t...
This will just add to what is surely going to be another record breaking year for Apple.
In other news:
Apple posts $3.38b Q1 profit: iPhone sales double, Macs up 33 percent, iPods down eight

Re: Apple Tablet
I was wondering when someone would start a thread about this
I'm excited to see how it looks. I'm so sick of hearing and reading about it everywhere, I just want to see it's appearance now

Re: Apple Tablet
Haha me too man, it's on every single tech site and people have been speculating for months now.
I hope it's half as good as the hype suggests... Either way, I'm 100% certain it'll be another winner for Apple...

Re: Apple Tablet
Yep awesome...Bloomberg's been spamming about it for the whole day already
Re: Apple Tablet
Well it's a great looking device, that I feel it just being held back by the current OS and STILL a lack of multitasking... Apparently it's really quick with that great CPU, but what use is it without multitasking?
At $499 it will replace many a netbook and e-reader though, really a great price, in the US anyway, in SA it'll cost a fortune like all Apple products.
Sigh, still no word on a new iPhone firmware, so that's disappointing too...

Re: Apple Tablet
Yeah. Nice article here. No multitasking? I find myself asking "What's the point"?
It looks great, but seriously, the lack of multitasking is actually quite absurd.

Re: Apple Tablet
You know, the more I sit and think about this device, the more ridiculous I feel it is. It's got pretty much the same functionality as an iPhone or a Touch, it's just less portable. It's got no multitasking, and, worst of all, no flash support.
I feel like this device SHOULD be destined to fail, but we all know that Apple fanboys will pick it up as soon as they can.

Re: Apple Tablet
The speculation is that from iOS 4.0 there will be multitasking, which will change things considerably. If you think that an entry level kindle e-book reader with a 6 inch screen costs around $250 and a kindle DX costs almost $500, then the $499 becomes pretty decent for the 16GB iPad considering it can do so much more.
What is pretty cool is that Apple themselves fabricated the 1GHz CPU that powers the iPad and it's apparently very speedy yet still gives 10 hours battery time and over a months standby time...

Hahaha Hitler is a bit ticked off .....
I personally think it's not worth buying a Ipad
*1stly it's overpriced, plus you have to pay extra for internet costs(That's in the states now), i don't even want to know what it's gonna be priced Locally , not sure if it would even be available for us.
*Then it also doesn't support Flash ...i mean seriously what were they thinking!!!!
*No cammera
*And the best for last...It Cannot multi-task, I know Iphones also can't multi-task, but it's not a iphone, they should have taken that into consideration, since it is aimed at a different individual, who i reckon actually would need to be able to multi-task
Stupid Ipad!!!!

Yup, it's a highly unfortunate name. Yesterday after the announcement "iTampon" was the 2nd highest trending topic on twitter...PureFire wrote:ipad?!

Re: Apple Tablet
I just realised something...
My Cellphone, a Nokia 6600 released in 2003 can do more than the iPad.
Mine can display pictures, play MP3s (yes, I know the iPad can do both of those), has a camera, can act as a phone.
Oh, and just to rub salt in the wounds, can also multitask! Can you believe it!

Re: Apple Tablet
What I seriously don't like is that Apple essentially controls what you can and can't install, like the iPhone, which is just ridiculous...
Re: Apple Tablet
I agree the i-Phone is awesome, but the i-Pad.....NO!!!, it just doesn't do it for me
