PPPoE Dial-up connection confusion

Post by KillerByte »

Hi guys

I need the help of the top network minds on this forum.

Firstly let me describe my current setup.

My ADSL line goes into a Dlink 2500u ADSL router. It has a single LAN port and one WAN port.

This is in bridge mode to allow my Sitecom 300N XR wireless gaming router to dial the connection and then share the connection to the network. 1 wired client and 3 wireless clients (1 laptop and two cellphones).

I have it setup like this so I can change my ADSL settings with minimal effort.

Now since I currently use Afrihost as my main provider but have a WebAfrica account for the WAGE service. I need to be able to initiate a dial-up from my PC which will route my PC's traffic through the WA account.

This setup would be very easy to do if I was just using an all-in-one solution from Dlink.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hey KB

I use a Mikrotik router for something similar to this. It dials 3 PPPoE connections for me. I route as follows:
WA Unshaped (soon to be a WA local): WAGE IP's get routed to it
Local IS: Office VPN link and IS News Server (and anything that comes from my Download box ip address)
Afrihost: Normal Internet browsing (Default unless routed otherwise)

I know this isnt a D-Link solution but after working with mikrotiks i prefer them to a normal router for the great amount you can do with them.
