US International Keyboard Setup
US International Keyboard Setup
I use the United States International keyboard setup, with the dead keys so make accented characters easier. Normally, this means that you have to hit the apostrophe and then space to get a ' (or Shift and apostrophe then space to get "), but since this morning I seem to have a double dead key. I now have to hit apostrophe TWICE and the space bar, or else it doesn't work. Any ideas?

Unplug keyboard, restart?
Or maybe try changing the keyboard layout and changing it back?

Laptop keyboard?
Re: US International Keyboard Setup
Neither suggestion worked, for what it's worth. This is really irritating.Monty wrote:Unplug keyboard, restart?

ban it?

Re: US International Keyboard Setup
It would appear to be a software issue, for what its worth, because even when I plug in another, generic keyboard, I have the same issue. Using the standard US keyboard layout (sans dead keys) works just as it should.

Find and reinstall keyboard drivers?

Yeah, let me go see if MS has newer drivers for my keyboard. Will try that tonight.

Re: US International Keyboard Setup
this is what you get for trying to be different. Even software persecutes you.
What I type has nothing to do with the people that employ me.
Re: US International Keyboard Setup
I actually don't use my desktop at home for typing very much, so I don't even know how long it's been doing this for. I blame either my wife or, perhaps more realistically, the redhead. Would still like to fix it though. I suppose I COULD just wait it out. I'm still running Windows 7 RC1 at home, though I have the retail version ready to be installed. I would hope that a format, though drastic, would correct the problem.
