Stopping VCMLite Popup

Post by Stuart »

A colleague here has a E220 USB modem for his 3G connection. He uses the embedded VCMLite software to connect when he is out and about. However, back at the office (or at home, for that matter) he connects wirelessly to ADSL. Problem is, even when he is connected to ADSL, the WMCLite connection box keeps opening wanting to connect. It does it constantly ... like every sixty seconds or so. How do I go about stopping this?

VMC lite, perhaps?

uninstall and get the latest, (full), version, specifying it NOT start with windows during install...

the VMC service which runs in the background is well known to be horribly dodgy...

That was my first thought, except the E220 is not listed as compatible on the VMC table.

Control Panel > Internet Options > Select Never dial a connection

Oh, and the E220 IS on the Vodascum page. Software AND firmware.

Hmmm ... never even checked that. Will give it a try, thanks.

I realise it's there, but the only software option for it is VMCLite, not the full VMC.

probably 'cause the E220 is discontinued and they're trying to force folks to upgrade....

i'd still check the installed version....

^^ Oh, wait, that's right. How did I miss that? :? I'll download that and try. May as well try your Never Dial a Connection Option too though.

You're really teetering on the fail brink today, aren't you...

I know the Never Dial thing works - mum's PC had same issue.
