Port Forwarding help

Post by geraldhum »

Hi Guys

When i type in my ip address or myname.dyndns.org in the url i get routed to my router.

What i would like to do is get routed to my IPCOP server which the router is directly connected to. What ports do i need to forward on my router to do this? I have tried and tried but aint working.

You would have to configure a port to be open on your router, and configure the port to forward to the internal IP address of your IPCOP server. Remember to also open the port on the IPCOP server and have something running so you know that it is working.

Of course, you have to verify that your router can support this.

Thank you, i have forwarded my port on the router to the internal ip address of my ipcop server but still showing my dsl router instead of the server. I have forwaded port 81 and 443 but still doesn't work, also tried to forward port 80 and no luck. Anyway this was just a test that i did, installing virtual machine on my pc and ipcop on the vm. having one internal network card and creating a loop back device using windows for my other network card(red and green) worked like a bomb=:) after a day or two to get it working.

Just need to get a 4 port hub and an extra network card to set up a seperate server then im settled:)

Hmm. Have you tried to telnet your router to make sure the port is open?

I have seen on some routers that you have to open in addition to the forwarding rule.

i'll check that tonight but i have forward port 1723 on my router for a vpn connection and i can vpn from my office into my home pc so i dont see what the differnece.

I have read some where that if you try and connect from the internal network where the router is located that some routers wouldn't allow the forwarding to proceed . I have a billion 7300

Ok, if you already have a port being forwarded successfully, then I'm stumped :).

It is working now:) all i had to do was allow external connection on ipcop. Also set my router to forward port 81 to the ipcop server:)

I also run an ipcop server. Was having similar problems till i thought "stuff this" and set my IPCOP server as a DMZ host. No more problems after that
