Connecting to a (makeshift) network projector

Post by dad_hator »

Hi Guys

I need some help, my eyes are burning with all this googling, with no results.

I have a projector (regular, not network) connected to a laptop. I have to connect to the laptop, and "project" my screen onto the pc (to display on the screen), all that without the use of wires.

I got this to work with an reverse vnc connection, but that operates to slow to be functional. I am looking at something like an reverse RDP session or something similar, but to no avail.

btw, I did find this http://www.screen-record.com/projector_online.htm link, but I would prefer not to pay for the software.

Thank you all in advance

Hmmm...what about Hamachi or something like that? Teamviewer maybe?

Correct me if I am wrong, but they both require someone in front of the laptop ("server"). They also both use VNC.

thats the beauty of a reverse vnc connection, if it wasnt for the slowness I would never have asked for help on this subject :)

Nope, it only needs to serve as "server" for the display.

Why not try Teamviewer ?
It has a 'Presentation' setting - and we (as a company bought it) find it very fast and stabel.
You can however run it for non-commercial use ... as a trial maybe ?

I am in the process of testing TeamViewer 4 now, it seem to be working as advertised, however there is one thing that still bothers me.

I have done a quick surface scan, but I cant find a option to display the presentation in fullscreen.

Got any ideas?

Ok, some feedback

After giving teamviewer to the boss for testing the findings is that it is just to slow to keep up with the presentation.

Does anyone know of a remote desktop program, that runs on multiple layers, like rdp. The problem with rdp is that in logs the user out, it doesnt just clone the current desktop.
